Game drives (morning – Afternoon – Night)
Game viewing from open top 4×4 vehicles, on extensive loops of bush tracks both east and west of the Kafue River are offered in the early morning, late afternoon/early evening or a late night drive to spot the nocturals.
A variety of antelope species are to be found including Impala, Puku, Sable, Hartebeest, Bushbuck, whilst searching for Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Hyena and Wild Dogs.
Game drives are tailored to individual preferences and vary in distance and time.
Walking Safaris
With kilometers of beautiful wilderness, walking Safaris with our qualified guides accompanied by an Africa Parks Game Ranger. Being on foot brings you directly in contact with nature. You are part of nature not merely an intruding spectator.


Birding
Hippo Lodge and its surroundings are indeed a bird watcher’s paradise. It is renowned for almost 300 species which have been recorded within the area including the African Finfoot, African Skimmer, Rock Pratincole, Crowned and Wattle Crane, Saddle-bill Stork, Racket-tailed Roller, Sharlow’s Turaco, Ross’s Turaco, Pel’s Fishing Owl, Crowned Eagle and the ubiquitous African Fish Eagle.
Fishing
For the experienced angler or the uninitiated, the river offers a thrilling fishing experience. The camp operates a full catch and release policy and encourages the use of barbless hooks.


Boat & Sunset Cruises
Boat cruises are a relaxing favourite, drifting slowly down the River, as elephants cross, game comes to drink from the banks, crocodiles lurk and Hippos wallow, the banks are alive with birds.
Hot Spring
A natural hot spring, situated about a kilometre from the lodge, provides guests with a perfect opportunity to unwind and rejuvenate in a unique sand bottomed natural Jacuzzi – bathing at the spring is one of our most popular activities.
