Hippo Lodge and its surroundings is indeed a bird watcher’s paradise. It is renowned for almost 300 species which have been recorded within the area including the African Finfoot
Wide Mouth Bream, African Pike, Silver Barbel, Yellow Bellies, or a black barbel or two make for a daily catch.
For the experienced angler or the uninitiated, the river offers a thrilling fishing experience. The camp operates a full catch and release policy and encourages the use of barbless hooks.
Exploring the Kafue River in the morning with a coffee in hand or an afternoon game viewing cruise drifting into the sunset makes a perfect end to the day.
Boat cruises are a relaxing favourite, drifting slowly down the River, as elephants cross, game comes to drink from the banks, crocodiles lurk and Hippos wallow, the banks are alive with birds.
